The Drawbacks
- The Vegetable Chopper sometimes doesn’t cut all the way through. Moreover, you have to get something to push the rest of the vegetables through the sharp grid plate.
- The plastic doesn’t feel very strong. I felt that pushing down (not hard) just enough to cause it to cut through most of the vegetables it would flex or bend. Also, I had to be careful pushing down on it each time.
- Blade sharpness could be an issue. They didn’t seem as sharp as they could be.
- Instructions were not so helpful. You need to take the time to learn exactly how all parts of this Kitchen Gadget.
Testing Notes – Vegetable Chopper
I have been using this STERK chopper for a couple of weeks now and it’s a solid tool in the kitchen. It really shines when you’re dicing onions or slicing veggies for a stir-fry. I was worried about the setup, but the blades switch out pretty easily. Sharpness of the blades was bit of an issue as I thought the could be sharper.
If you’re dealing with harder vegetables like carrots, pre-cut them into smaller pieces. Also, this makes the process easier and you don’t have to press down as hard.
The anti-slip feature is good but still have to apply some pressure to get the job done. And speaking of pressure, don’t push down too hard or you might end up with plastic bits in your food. The hand protector can get chopped if not aligned just right.
Another downside is cleaning. You’ll need a bit of patience, as this is a hand-wash-only deal. Dishwashers and this chopper don’t get along.
